Warm Spiced Ginger Tea Recipe
A DIY ginger tea to combat rough weather and more
Whenever one of us is ill, the other will make this warming ginger drink—it's perfect for that nasty cold or an upset stomach—and it only takes 20 minutes to make. The best part is that it can be paired with rye whiskey or rum for a winter cocktail. This drink holds special significance for us as this was one of the first drinks we made that we tried to carbonate and transform into a soda—six months later Brooklyn Soda Works was formed. We still make this same drink for each other whenever one of us is feeling in need of a pick-me-up.
Ingredients
- Add sliced ginger, star anise and cardamom to 1 liter of boiling water.
- Simmer for 20 minutes
- Add in cloves and simmer for additional 5 minutes
- Cut the heat. Add juice of one lemon.
- Sweeten with honey, filter, and serve in mugs.
