Map: Food Prices' Effect on World's Poor

As part of its GROW campagin, Oxfam released a map today that shows the “pressure points" of food price spikes on the world’s poorest communities. Increasing food prices have pushed more than 44 million people into poverty since June 2010. The Oxfam map presents some sobering facts about food price vulnerability. Currently, more than half of Tanzania’s population lives in extreme poverty and is vulnerable to rising food prices. The data for the interactive map is based on climate changes, weather events, hunger rates, net food imports, and political instability.
