Manhattan Cocktail Recipe
A classic cocktail goes back to its roots with rye
There are several conflicting tales of how the Manhattan cocktail came to be. But everyone agrees that the drink was indeed invented in the borough for which it was named, and as we've recently learned, to make a proper traditional Manhattan, you need to use rye whiskey—not the more commonly employed bourbon.
- Shake the rye, vermouth, and bitters with ice
- Strain into a well chilled glass
- Garnish with a twist or maraschino cherry
