You're Missing One Crucial Instruction With Your Canned Frosting

If you’re using canned frosting, you might be missing a crucial step listed in the instructions on the side of the can: Stir it before you spread it.

TikTok user @daniellelucasbakergirl used a stand mixer, which made the frosting more “stable” and better for piping onto cakes, almost like buttercream.

Mixing or whipping the frosting incorporates more air into it, making it smooth, silky, and fluffy. Whipping the frosting also leaves you with a greater volume of frosting.

The tip appears on the can, but Betty Crocker states its frostings are "ready to use," so it's unsurprising that many don't know they're supposed to stir for optimal results.
