You Won't Ever Find Tomatoes In Bobby Flay's Guacamole
Chef Bobby Flay holds the controversial stance that tomatoes shouldn’t be in guacamole. He instead uses a simple recipe of avocado, cilantro, chili pepper, lime, and red onion.
Flay adamantly opposes tomato in guacamole since he says it interferes with guac’s essential flavors. Understandably, this opinion sparked major pushback on social media.
The traditional Mexican guacamole recipe, dating back to the 14th century, included tomatoes along with avocados, salt, and chilies.
However, other chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez, Jamie Oliver, and Ina Garten incorporate tomatoes in their recipes, while Martha Stewart agrees with Flay's stance.
