Why You Should Avoid Spicy Foods At A Business Dinner

Etiquette blog Emily Post notes that business dinners are about networking. These are situations where it's wise to avoid certain menu items, including spicy foods.

Spicy foods can make you appear sweaty and anxious, which is not recommended in a business context. This could make a bad impression on your boss or a valued client.

Eating spicy foods can also make you more aggressive. Consumption of spicy foods could be correlated with a more aggressive mindset and perception of aggression from others.

There’s a chance that your boss, colleagues, or others at the business dinner will view you in a decidedly unflattering light.
