When To Add Cheese To Scrambled Eggs
Adding cheese to scrambled eggs enhances their flavor, but timing is crucial. Add the cheese near the end of cooking to achieve a perfect melt and highlight its flavor.
Specific cheeses, like goat, feta, Edam, and Swiss complement the eggs, but they all have different timings for optimal melting.
Cheeses like feta and parmesan can be added off heat as the residual heat melts them, while others like Edam and Gouda need to be added while the eggs are still cooking.
Cheeses like cheddar and Monterey Jack should be introduced later in the cooking process, when the eggs are approximately 75% cooked.
Scrambled eggs are best when cooked low and slow, so you'll only need 5 to 10 minutes to properly cook them. Based on your cheese preference, add it in when the timing is right.
