What Exactly Is Steak Oscar And How Do You Prepare It?
Steak Oscar is an upscale surf 'n turf dish consisting of premium steak, typically filet mignon, high-quality lump crab meat, white asparagus, and rich, flavorful béarnaise sauce.
To prepare steak Oscar’s components, pan roast, grill, or broil the filet mignon, then heat the crab meat gently with butter. Cook the white asparagus by steaming until tender.
Make the béarnaise sauce by whisking egg yolks, vinegar, shallots, and tarragon with melted butter. Place the crab and asparagus atop the steak, then drizzle with béarnaise sauce.
For substitutions, you can use shrimp or lobster instead of crab, and swap in New York strip or T-bone steak for filet mignon. Green asparagus in place of white will also work
