What Classifies Eggs As The Gold Standard Of Protein
For such a small size and low-calorie count, eggs are so nutritious that they're known as the "gold standard" of protein. An average egg holds six grams of protein and 72 calories.
Eggs are unrivaled as a source of lean protein, with only five grams of fat and lots of antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and nutrients like choline, which helps cells grow.
Eggs also contain calcium, iron, and vitamins A and D. While there have been concerns about high cholesterol, eggs have been proven not to raise cholesterol levels in humans.
An egg is known as a complete protein because it contains all the amino acids needed for human survival. A couple of eggs a day can be a terrific supplement to a protein-rich diet.
