Two glasses of bourbon

What Allocated Bourbon Really Means
Allocated bourbon refers to bourbon brands that distributors provide to retailers in restricted or very limited quantities. However, to consumers, it means something else.
Although not technically a quality descriptor, allocated bourbon is generally assumed by connoisseurs and enthusiastic bourbon buyers to be either rare or of exceptional quality.
Many high-end and collectible bourbons are only available via allocation. Due to limited production and demand, retail outlets are only allocated a few bottles, if anything.
