Turn Sour Cream Into Crème Fraîche With One Ingredient
Crème fraîche, which means "fresh cream" in French, is essentially cultured with bacteria to thicken it and give it a slight sour flavor. However, it isn’t really a fridge staple.
If you need some crème fraîche without making a trip to the store, whip up a simple substitute at home by thoroughly combining equal parts of sour cream and heavy cream.
The ensuing mixture will be as nutty and tangy as its original counterpart. It can be used just like crème fraîche, be it as a condiment or garnish or a soup and sauce thickener.
