Believe it or not, measuring the markings on a watermelon’s rind with your fingers is an effective method for picking out the ripest, and therefore sweetest, watermelon.
For the ripest pick, place your index and middle fingers together and use them to ensure the contrasting green stripes on the fruit’s exterior are about two fingers' width apart.
This hack has blown up on TikTok, amassing over 28 million views. It also went viral in 2021 when Facebook user Kevin-Christie Kestler shared that a farmer taught her the trick.
