The family-owned New England supermarket chain Market Basket is known for its budget prices and prides itself on maintaining old-fashioned values while adapting to customer needs.
In a 2022 study by consumer data firm Dunnhumby, Market Basket was declared the best grocery store for affordability and quality, beating the much larger Aldi into second place.

Market Basket set itself apart by not having an official website until 2017 and refusing to add self-checkouts, focusing instead on increasing its range of high-quality products.
