Ina Garten's Single Ingredient Sauce For Heavenly Desserts
If you need another incentive to stock ice cream in your freezer, Ina Garten has a heavenly, single-ingredient sauce recipe that might just be the motivation you need.
In Garten’s 11th cookbook, “Cook Like a Pro: Recipes and Tips for Home Cooks,” the Barefoot Contessa shares her hack of using melted vanilla ice cream to elevate sweet treats.
According to Garten, “Vanilla ice cream is essentially crème anglaise that’s been frozen.” She further explains, “I reverse the process and end up with crème anglaise!”
While a traditional crème anglaise is tricky and time-consuming to make, Garten’s genius shortcut simply involves buying quality vanilla ice cream and leaving it on the counter.
Once your vanilla ice cream has melted, you’ll be left with a thick, pourable sauce that can turn your homemade, or even store-bought, desserts into irresistibly decadent delights.
