Ina Garten's Lightning-Fast Technique For Peeling A Lot Of Garlic
Peeling garlic is such a difficult task that hacks for doing so are all over the internet. One such easy hack comes from chef Ina Garten, and it only requires boiling water.
Garten shares the trick in the margins of a page of her book "Cook Like A Pro" that features a recipe for chicken marbella, a dish that requires about 15-20 peeled garlic cloves.
To peel garlic, boil some water, separate the cloves, and blanch them in the water for 15-30 seconds, adding more time if the cloves are large.
Place them in a bath of ice water to keep the bulbs from cooking or losing flavor. Per Garten, this trick loosens the peels, so they come right off.
