How To Store Mushrooms In The Refrigerator, Sliced Or Whole
Mushrooms are sensitive, bruising at the slightest touch or growing slimy if the air is too humid. Extend their shelf life by taking the proper measures when refrigerating them.
For whole fungi, make sure to keep them dry. Store them with paper towels underneath or in a paper bag to soak excess moisture. Avoid plastic because that will lock in moisture.
For sliced mushrooms, most guidelines remain the same. However, you can store sliced mushrooms in an airtight container in the refrigerator, though they are more prone to spoilage.
If stored properly, whole mushrooms will last up to a week, while sliced mushrooms will last up to five days. Either way, it’s best to use them quickly.
