How To Properly Eat Brie Cheese

Brie is a gourmet cheese, renowned for its soft, buttery interior and delicate white rind. It needs to be stored and served in certain ways to preserve its flavor and texture.

Brie is best enjoyed at room temperature, so remove the cheese from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before serving to soften it and enhance its creamy texture and flavor.

The edible mold on the rind releases an ammonia-like smell, which can be trapped if the cheese is wrapped in non-porous materials like plastic wrap.

Be sure to store your brie in a breathable wrapping material. Uncover the cheese and bring it to room temperature to dispel the unpleasant aroma and improve its taste when served.

Since brie is aged differently from the middle outwards, it’s considered rude to cut off the tip of the wedge, as it prevents others from tasting its full flavor spectrum.

Instead, cut your brie into thin wedges so you can taste and appreciate every part of the cheese without hoarding the delicious center, including the edible, flavorful rind.
