Broccoli soaking in water

How To Deep Clean Broccoli With Water And Vinegar

Broccoli has nooks and crannies, which might make it seem like it needs a deeper wash. If water just doesn't seem enough, all you need is a solution of vinegar and water.

Fill a bowl with a 3:1 ratio of water and white vinegar. Soak the broccoli in the solution for about two minutes, then rinse it with fresh water to remove any traces of vinegar.

If you won’t cook it immediately, dry the broccoli before storing it in the fridge. Any lingering water will make the florets damp, mushy, and moldy.

Vinegar can kill most germs and bacteria and remove pesticides and microbes present in broccoli. Unlike water, vinegar's acidic nature can keep broccoli fresh for longer.
