Giada De Laurentiis' Favorite Lightning-Fast Appetizer

Putting together an appetizer quickly doesn't have to be complicated. When Giada De Laurentiis needs a quick hors d'oeuvre, she whips up some bruschetta.

Italian bruschetta is grilled bread rubbed with garlic and drizzled with olive oil and salt. De Laurentiis told Eating Well that fresh, seasonal ingredients are her top priority.

Shared on her website, De Laurentiis' recipe uses thick slices of bread that are brushed with oil, cooked in a pan, rubbed with a halved tomato, and topped with salt and oil.

The topping possibilities are limitless. Everything from sliced avocado and soft scrambled eggs to broccoli rabe sautéed in olive oil can be found on bruschetta.
