Giada De Laurentiis' Bold Secret Ingredient For Bucatini Pasta

Giada De Laurentiis' lifestyle platform and online marketplace, Giadzy, recently took to Instagram to share that miso is Giada’s secret for crafting extremely flavorful bucatini.

Miso is a thick paste of fermented soybeans, koji (malted rice), and salt. While there are variations, the average miso has a flavor similar to a more complex soy sauce.

A staple in Japanese cuisine, the salty, umami powerhouse marries the thick, spaghetti-like bucatini noodles and crispy pancetta in Giada’s dish, yielding a delectable meal.

Giadzy's post noted the bucatini dish turns out "so full of flavor" that you can even skip topping it with parmesan cheese. However, you will need the pancetta fat and pasta water.

After you've crisped the pork belly meat (pancetta) cubes, remove them from the pan and add butter to the leftover fat. Once melted, whisk in a bit of pasta water and miso paste.

Lastly, add some baby spinach into the mix, toss your bucatini into the sauce, and top with the browned pancetta. The resulting dish will leave you craving more without fail.
