Butter Vs Olive Oil: Which Is Better For Frying Eggs?
When cooking fried eggs, the choice between butter and olive oil depends on personal taste. Butter offers richness and creaminess whereas olive oil produces crispy edges.
For butter, melt it in a pan over medium heat until slightly foamy, then crack an egg into it. If you enjoy the nutty taste of browned butter, let the butter cook slightly longer.
If you prefer your egg crunchy around the edges, olive oil is the right choice for you. Heat the pan and then add a generous amount of oil before cracking the egg into the pan.
As it cooks, baste the egg by tilting the pan toward you, then drizzle spoonfuls of hot oil over the whites. The oil’s higher smoke point results in a crusty edge to your egg.
