Alton Brown's Clever Technique To Turn Saltines Into Worthwhile Snacks

In chef Alton Brown's "Pantry Raid" video on upgrading saltine crackers, he transforms these simple crackers into a delicious snack.

To upgrade your saltines with Brown's recipe, combine some hot sauce in a bowl with a bit of dried mustard. Then, add two tablespoons of melted butter per sleeve of saltines.

Whisk the butter into the hot sauce and seasoning, then add the crackers to the bowl. Next, lay the crackers on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.

You want the crackers to have a nice golden brown hue and a good crunch. If they come out soggy, give them another three to five minutes and then check them again.

Once they come out of the oven, let them cool on a wire rack so you don't burn your mouth. Then, store them on the counter in an airtight container.
