Stack of ice cubes

All You Need To Clean Your Garbage Disposal Is A Tray Of Ice Cubes
Despite the garbage disposal's powerful grinding prowess, food particles can still adhere to the blades and build up in the drain — an issue a handful of ice cubes can help with.
To clean your garbage disposal, cram about one cup of ice cubes down your drain with cold water. The cold water will keep the machine from overheating and clean the drain better.
Cold water and ice work the best because hot water can cause lingering fats and grease to congeal and stick to the blades. For a stronger clean, use a lemon with the ice and water.
Place one halved and peeled lemon into the drain using a pair of tongs and add the ice cubes. Then, run the garbage disposal with cold water for about 30 seconds for a deep clean.
