Design Details, Episode 8: Chicago’s Parachute

Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark credit Charlie Vinz of Adaptive Operations with creating the homey atmosphere at their restaurant, Parachute, in Chicago. Opened in 2014, Parachute has become a go-to for inventive cooking with a Korean twist, and the atmosphere plays a big part. Vinz filled the space with curios like old transistor radios and children’s plastic toys, and dreamed up a clean decor that’s all sharp lines and warm wood tones. The design “falls in our food philosophy,” notes Kim in the latest episode of Design Details, adding, “Stuff that might have been overlooked becomes very beautiful.”
