Dear world: Reuben dip. Love, Food Republic. That's right, we're cooks and poets. That's why we also brought you pretzel poutine, Mexican meatballs in salsa verde and potato skins loaded with spinach and feta dip this week. That is food poetry. Brining thick bone-in pork chops in nice strong chai is food poetry too. And we'll need all pleasantries in the world (in addition to football snacks) to finally bid summer goodbye.

We kicked off football (food) season with a spicy wing that will quell the Chinese food craving you didn't even know you had! Also in the kitchen: big soft pretzels with a tangy sourdough twist, enlisting the help of delicious fermentacular probiotics in the case of the pretzels and some awesome savory pancakes inspired by South Indian dosas. Here's how we worked vegetables into our diets this week: stuffed meatballs, steak salads, deep-fried broccoli, creamy mushroom sauce for fried pork cutlets and grilled zucchini and squash layered with creamy ricotta. Hey, nobody said we were cleansing, okay? The fact is, seasonal vegetables add a delicious element to summer dining that simply can't be replicated. Purist? Check out that heirloom tomato salad. It barely even needs a recipe.

We cooked out way through some colorful summer food this week. From a blue and purple beer-spiked blueberry cake to vibrant prosciutto-wrapped avocado slices, there's been no shortage of stuff to Instagram. While the weather's hot, lighten up your breakfast tacos and continue to grill that wonderful seasonal corn. If the urge for a cheese-stuffed deep-fried bite of beefy goodness strikes you, that's perfectly normal. I mean look at those arancini.

It's hot out, so cook your food (or don't) accordingly. The big winners this week were ceviche (which is "cooked" with acid) and blowtorch salmon sashimi, which is exactly what it sounds like. A little crème brûlée torch won't heat the kitchen up much, unless you set your curtains on fire or something and fruit may be in high season, but don't let that stop you from frying up rich, buttery duck eggs with hearty blood sausage for brunch tomorrow. If you can find a better week of summer recipes, I'll eat my...steak. Slathered with bouillabaisse butter. Seriously though, we dove into all our favorite hot weather foods: fried fish, lobster salad, spicy grilled chicken, jazzed-up picnic food, healthy kale salads — what more could you want, besides the jingle of the ice cream truck as soon as you're done?
