Food & Wine Names Best New Chefs 2012

NYC takes home two best new chef spots

For the past 24 years, Food & Wine has given out the title of Best New Chef in America to chefs who have been in charge of a kitchen for five years or less. It's quite the honor. Last night, Editor-in-Chief Dana Cowin announced this year’s winners — a total of 12 chefs from 10 restaurants across the country.

We’ve found that chefs are into Instagram too. That’s why we’ve asked Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard to takeover our Instagram account this weekend. She’ll be down in Miami at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival on Thursday and Friday, and back at her Chicago restaurant, Girl and the Goat, on Saturday.  So, basically, expect no sleep and photos of escargot ravioli, bacon and a tamarind-miso sauce. Stephanie Izard knows how to have a good time.

There are several hundred people recovering from a weekend of too much booze, rich foods and over-exerted, rarely used, muscles. Actually, there are probably several hundred thousand, if not millions, of people suffering this same plight in America today, for a variety of reasons. But I am referring specifically to the lucky ones who attended the Beaver Creek Food & Wine weekend in Colorado.
