McDonald's is on a mission to make you feel better about eating its products. On Tuesday, the beleaguered fast food behemoth released a new video, promising a behind-the-scenes look at how its "World Famous Fries" get made. The five-minute clip, hosted by former Mythbusters star Grant Imahara, is the latest in a series of segments designed to ease lingering health concerns in the wake of rather unappetizing reports about pink slime and, of course, Morgan Spurlock's disturbing 2004 documentary Super Size Me. Watch the full clip right here.

Bacon Craze Didn't Happen Organically. Pork Lobbyists Were Behind The Whole Thing.

Pig pushers led effort to put bacon on burgers

It's hard to fathom these days, when bacon is used to sell everything from vodka to sexual lubricant. But, there was a time when Americans barely touched the stuff. How bacon became fashionable again isn't as simple as Americans rediscovering how great it tastes. There was a shadow PR war going on behind the scenes in the early 1990s, with the pork industry funding research into precooking technology, lobbying restaurant chains to add bacon-based menu items and even subsiziding recipe development.

For many readers of a particular age and geographical origin, Pizza Huts were a part of growing up. Remember the $4.99 lunch buffet? The Land Before Time puppets? Remember Book It, the company’s shrewd marketing plan that gave kids the opportunity to “earn” a free Personal Pan Pizza for reading a certain number of books in school? Yes, school! Meaning parents had to drive their kids to Pizza Hut, pay for their own Pizza Hut Big Foot Pizza and do it all over a month later when the next certificate was brought home. All in the name of literacy! Oh, Pizza Hut.

Taco Bell, for instance, is experimenting with a new concept, U.S. Taco, which borrows heavily from the Chipotle playbook, focusing less on value and convenience and more on the actual food. Or, more precisely, better-looking food. The well-worn expression "feast your eyes" has never been more important. Find out why right here.

The fry-slingers got these poor folks SO BAD!

A few weeks ago, ads went up around Vegas looking for performers to audition for a zombie-themed musical on the Vegas Strip called “Hunger in the Night.” Hordes of actors showed up in Downtown Vegas for their chance at stardom. The problem (and punchline) is, the show doesn't exist.

It’s certainly a non-traditional partnership. The world’s largest fast-food chain, by number of stores, is joining forces with a hamburger chain that ranks 11th in market share in its tiny home country. Industry giant Subway is most definitely taking a leap of faith by joining forces with New Zealand’s BurgerFuel, according to The New York Times.
