On Day 1 Of Healthy Living Week I Find Myself Unmotivated

I learn it's best to ease into these things slowly
Jan 13, 2014 12:30 pm

I need to ease into Healthy Living Week, because I almost stopped to get a green juice this morning, then I decided "gross, nope, not today." I'm not getting called out on a Monday though, so here are a few "transition lunches" to keep me (and you, if you also had jambalaya and too much wine last night) from going into shock.

A mysterious fast. A strict vegan diet. A lengthy juice cleanse. No, we’re not talking about New York Fashion Week. We are talking about the New York Knicks.

The 5 Levels Of Healthy Eating

Juice cleanses to Cheetos and everything in between

There's a progression that occurs when you vow to eat better in the New Year. Like Elizabeth Kübler-Ross's five stages of grief (denial, anger, etc.), there are five stages of healthy eating. Your resolve starts out strong and then, slowly but surely, gets less and less resolute. Since we're filled with such good intentions right now, though, it's a great time to go over all the levels.

Here's Why You Shouldn't Detox In January

Hold off on that juice cleanse, OK?

I do not believe that people should detox. I mean, people should not give up drinking in January. green juice

Something happens when you drink a big green juice on an empty stomach. Something crazy. It starts as general discomfort in the abdominal region, which quickly spreads throughout your body. After a first day of highs and thrills during my Organic Avenue cleanse, what follows is the log of the second day of my all-juice adventure. Things don’t start off well.

Cleanses are all the rage now. It is January 5th after all. For me, I’ve never been on a diet. I’m lucky that way. I have always eaten what I want to eat, when I want to eat it. And I hate fads. But I’m also a sucker for sentiment, and with the new year, I thought it might be time to mark 2012 with something meaningful and different. So, when I got hip to a three-day, all-liquid cleanse offered by Organic Avenue.
