Short Stories: How Greg Baxtrom Handled A Visit From His Mentor, Grant Achatz

It’s the moment that any young chef craves but also fears: The man or woman who helped launch their career shows up at their restaurant for dinner. In Greg Baxtrom’s case, this meant that Grant Achatz, the celebrated chef behind Chicago’s Alinea and Next, appeared at the Brooklyn restaurant Olmsted. In the latest Short Stories video, Baxtrom recounts Achatz’s visit, as well as the surprise he got a couple of days later when New York Times critic Pete Wells also decided to pop in for dinner.
