Kobe And KD Will Be Wearing Eggnog And Candy Cane Sneakers On Christmas Day

We all love ourselves some candy canes and eggnog come Christmastime. But how much do we really love these two holiday staples? Do we love them enough to wear them? The answer is yes, apparently, for two NBA superstars, as that's exactly what Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant will be doing during their Christmas Day games this year. Via Nike, the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder all-stars will be sporting candy cane and eggnog-themed sneakers, respectively.

Bryant's special edition KOBE 9's are designed to the specifications of his fluid style of play. We're not exactly sure how the candy cane fits into his game plan, but the marbled outsole design definitely evokes the holiday spirit. Meanwhile, Durant's KD 7's honor eggnog — his favorite holiday beverage, which Nike claims he has enjoyed since childhood. The shoe's sock liner even reads "Fresh since '88" — a reference to the forward's birth year. A red heel integrates glossy flecks emulating the condensation on a glass of eggnog (again — Nike's words, not ours). It'll be a battle of young upstarts versus savvy veterans as Durant's Thunder take on the defending champion San Antonio Spurs, while Kobe's struggling Lakers are set to face the Chicago Bulls in the evening.

In case you are wondering (and let's be honest, we know you are) — the entire Nike basketball Christmas collection is available globally on December 26.
