DIY: Macarons (Almost) Too Beautiful To Eat

You don't need an excuse to go out and buy a box of macarons, but just in case you do...now you can customize them! Houston-based blogger Ashley Rose came up with a cool DIY tutorial on how to decorate macarons to look like fruit. You'll just need edible food markers, which you should get anyway on Amazon, pre-made royal icing leaves and sprinkles. To give the design more dimension, Rose uses tricks like shading around the fruit. Although we've yet to try it out ourselves, she attests that the markers do not change the flavor of the pastry.
