Comedian To Jet Ski The Length Of The Mississippi River To Fight Hunger In Africa

Heifer International lays it out pretty clearly: Give them $1 and they will provide precisely one goat and two chickens to a needy family in Africa. Provide $2 and...do the math. If it isn't obvious, the aid is naturally renewable, which is a great thing. The goat provides the family with milk, cheese and yogurt. The chickens provide eggs for food and sale. It's a proven model that has been operating for over 70 years — and took in over $100 million in 2013. Los Angeles-based comic Kurt Braunohler (Chelsea Lately, Bob's Burgers) supports Heifer, but not simply by stuffing a few Benjamins into an envelope and throwing a stamp on it. He's hitting the high seas with a high-concept fundraising campaign that will have him jet ski the length of the Mississippi River.

The journey begins on May 29 in Chicago with a stand-up show featuring Braunohler and guest Wyatt Cenac. Then Braunohler will presumably strap on the wetsuit and jet (?) his way to stops in St. Louis, MO (May 31), Kaskaskia, IL (June 1) and New Orleans (June 6). The whole thing will be filmed as part as part of a six-part Comedy Central digital series called Roustabout, which will begin airing in July. But before this modern-day Tom Sawyer can shove off, he needs to start raising money to hit his $50,000 goal (ALL proceeds go to Heifer). Here is a video with all sorts of details and the battle cry "Let's get wet for goats!"
