NYC: No. 7 Subs Puts Turduckens To Work For Charity

The catastrophic typhoon that wiped out entire villages in the Philippines is already off the home pages of major U.S. news websites — replaced by closer-to-home weather issues, and football results. But the need for massive amounts of international aid remains.

That's why we're glad to see the restaurant world continue to support efforts to help those stricken by Typhoon Haiyan, including this Thanksgiving-related blowout from the clever sandwich minds at No. 7 Subs.

The company, which has shops in Manhattan and Brooklyn (addresses are here), will donate $1 from sales of each $12 sub to the World Food Programme. The sandwich features the mythical turducken (that's a chicken stuffed inside a duck stuffed inside a turkey), sliced up and placed on a sub roll with roasted brussels sprouts, potato chips, cranberry jelly and duck fat.

Many other restaurants around the U.S. are continuing to donate to organizations assisting with relief efforts in the Philippines (Eater.com has a nice list). We encourage you to find a local sub shop, diner or restaurant near you to help the tens of thousands of affected by this massive storm and its deadly aftermath.
