With the sudden resurgence of Twinkies sweeping a nation that only just finished mourning them, one can go two ways: the incredibly classy Hedy Goldsmith red velvet route…or the milkshake route served with a shot of strawberry-infused rum. We're on board with both.

Chef/owner Alex Garcia of the Upper West Side's AG Kitchen debuts his newest dessert creation this week: a classic vanilla shake with what can only be described as a …Twinkie-back? There must be a better way to verbalize a shot of rum chased by a milkshake-dunked snack cake. In either case, I was delighted to learn I live 10 blocks away from this heavenly toss of caution to the wind and will gladly leave my air conditioner's side to sample one.

Says Chef Garcia:

"The return of the Twinkie to retail is like the snack food equivalent of Michael Jordan coming out of retirement and rejoining the NBA in 1995, so we knew we had to come up with a creative dessert to celebrate it."

Best of all, they're simple enough to pull off at home. You can remove the wrapper from a Twinkie and pour yourself a shot, right?
