MAD Symposium Announces Initial List Of Confirmed Speakers
Chefs Atala, Puglisi headline still incomplete list
For the third consecutive summer, the food world’s brightest and most inventive minds – from chefs to farmers to journalists and politicians — will gather in Copenhagen for the MAD Symposium. The two-day conference, led by Noma chef René Redzepi and co-curated this year by Momofuku boss David Chang, will have a theme of “Guts.” “Guts symbolizes courage. It is culinary, it is your metabolism. It is what happens in your body when you eat. Risk taking, being brave,” said Redzepi in an interview with Food Republic last September. The past themes were “Vegetation” and “Appetite.”
MAD Symposium announced yesterday an initial list of figures slated to speak at the festivities, scheduled for August 25-26. Among those confirmed — by no means a complete list — are Brazilian chef Alex Atala, environmental activist Dr. Vandana Shiva, chef Christian Puglisi of Copenhagen’s Relæ and New York City writer Jon Reiner.
Redzepi also revealed that tickets for MAD Symposium, priced at $450 and inclusive of attendance and meals for both days, will go on sale March 11.
