Here's A Photo Of Two Trays Of Chili From NY Chili Fest

Damn, well we screwed up. Last night, Food Republic had correspondents on the ground in Lyon, France for the World Pastry Cup; in Madrid, Spain at Michelin-starred restuarant Coque; and at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, New York for the 8th Annual Sausage & Beer Dinner. But due to an oversight — well, and lack of room in our bellies — we missed NY Chili Fest, featuring 23 NYC restaurants competing in a meaty cook-off. The event featured some unusual but tantalizing-sounding choices for competitors, including Asian-leaning Talde and Salvation Taco, as well as meatcentric masters like Fatty Cue, Pies n' Thighs and Fletcher's. Proceeds benefitted Food Systems Network NYC, so it was a good cause too.

Luckily, photographer Lauren Naefe sent us shots from the event, including this deliciousness from Jimmy's No. 43. We hope the chili leftovers — if there were any — are getting put to good use on this cold, snowy/icy day in NYC.

BREAKING: A member of the Chili Fest team just got back to us with the winners:

  • Golden Chili Mug (Best Chili): The Brooklyn Star
  • Runner-up: Ducks Eatery
  • Fan Favorites: Fletcher's Chili Mac, Pies n' Thighs, Potlikker
