Design We Are Feeling: Maple Wood Knives

Canadian design agency The Federal created these handcrafted knives as a way to challenge the food enthusiast's perception of what a "traditional" knife looks like.

"With this project we wanted to explore an alternative emotion to the standard kitchen knives you see every day. The focus is drawn to the high-polished blade, while the rest of the knife's Maple wood body sits warmly in the hand and blends into its surroundings," say designers Ian Murchison and Rohan Thakar.

The wood sealing is lightweight, and allows for easy and and safe clean-up. Currently, the project is at the prototype stage, but don't be surprised to see this one on the shelves.
