Believe it or not, DJs among the busiest creatures on the planet. Move over beavers and bees, Morgan Page is in the house. He’s been a guest blogger for The Huffington Post on being an eco-friendly DJ, a guest DJ on Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco website, and star of his very own podcast with #1 hits on Billboard Hot Dance Airplay and Hype Machine. Guess who was also twice-nominated for a Grammy and snagged a 2012 residency at the Wynn Las Vegas along with Tiësto, Deadmau5, Afrojack and Steve Aoki? This guy. Somehow he found time to answer a few of my burning questions between making eggs, eating Korean BBQ tacos and, you know, DJing.
In terms of food, what is your favorite city to visit on tour?
Chicago! I try to go to The Girl & The Goat when I’m there. It’s an amazing restaurant.
What are three staples in your refrigerator at home?
Kale, organic eggs, frozen fruit.
What is the most exciting thing in your fridge right now?
The last meal you made at home was…
A breakfast scramble with turkey, parmesan cheese and avocado.
What’s the first food to hit your lips in the morning?
Usually a kale and fruit smoothie from my BlendTec. Sometimes a banana and almond milk shake with cacao nibs and hemp protein powder.
Any food or drink requirements for shows?
I am apparently the only DJ who asks for coconut water — it’s for after the show to rehydrate. To get pumped for a show, vodka Red Bulls are a necessary evil.
The last time you bought street food from a cart or truck: when and where?
Kogi in LA. Still the best! They know how to manipulate your palate. I think it’s their signature short rib taco that I still dream about.
If you’re eating at 3AM, you’re likely eating…
A protein bar. Fourthmeal isn’t usually a good idea, and you’ll just wake up hungry anyway. If it’s a really late night, an early breakfast is a good choice.
Who parties harder, chefs or DJs?
Chefs. They’re off-duty when DJs are starting work.
Have you ever had a really good dinner at a club? When/where?
But every other moment is feast or famine on the road — you’re either enjoying fine dining or suffering through airplane food.
