Some call it the middle ground between a chicken and an egg. Or, as the people behind the smart web series Would You Eat That say, “It’s like somebody did an ultrasound of misery.” The fertilized egg, known around parts of Southeast Asia as balut, is a culinary treasure to many. Also, it’s something you shouldn’t think about if you are about to eat lunch. I had a couple of these in Saigon and would color it a beaky experience.
