That Elevator Was Tasty!

Two of our favorite Londoners, Heston Blumenthal and Damien Hirst, have teamed up for an intriguing project. Inspired by Willy Wonka, the chef and the artist have developed a lickable wallpaper that tastes like chocolate treats. Together with a team of food technicians and artists, they created wallpaper for an elevator that features Jaffa Cake. For those of you living on the U.S. side of the Atlantic, Jaffa Cakes are chocolate-orange spongecake treats. The test elevator has round stickers, that, once licked, are removed by a bell-man, to ensure hygienic licking all day long. The team began with one elevator in Engine, a communication firm based in London, but hope to spread the licking frenzy all over London and possibly the world! The goal? To encourag some sweet stress-relief.

Personally, we can't wait till Food Republic's headquarters are equipped with 'Spot of Jaffa' elevators. Until then, we'll keep our tongues off the walls.
