Word of the Day: Semifreddo
Building up your kitchen vocab arsenal
Hopefully you've experienced a variety of ice cream flavors throughout your lifetime. This probably lead you to a flavor that caused your eyes to close and your cares to disappear as the cooling sensation hit your tongue (you know that ‘one’ flavor). Before you put that flavor at the top of your list, consider the semifreddo.
Semifreddo is Italian, meaning chilled or half-frozen and referring to a dessert somewhere between a custard, gelatin and ice cream. The texture of semifreddo is similar to mousse, which you can easily make in the comfort of your own home. Now who says you’re not an ice cream connoisseur?
